My Approach to Teaching Photoshop So It Never Feels Overwhelming

Photoshop can feel huge when you’re first getting to know it. So many buttons. So many panels.

So many tutorials that assume you already understand the hidden steps no one explains.

If you’ve ever opened Photoshop, taken one look around, and immediately closed it again… you are not alone.

Most people learn best when things feel calm, clear, and broken down into digestible pieces.

That is the foundation of how I teach.

Why Photoshop Feels Intimidating — And Why It Doesn’t Need To

If you’ve ever tried learning Photoshop on your own, you’ve probably run into at least one of these moments:

You followed a tutorial that suddenly skipped a step

The instructor assumed you already knew the basics

You got stuck in one spot, and everything started to feel scattered

My teaching style is the opposite.
I slow things down. I show every click. I explain why each step matters.

And I teach with the same energy as someone sitting next to you, walking through it together.

How I Break Down Lessons

Understanding the Levels — And How to Use Them

Inside the membership, every composite tutorial is labeled with a simple level system.
It is not about your talent or where you “should” be.
It is just a soft guide so you know what you’re stepping into.

Level 1 — Beginner Friendly
Gentle, clear, step-by-step workflows. Perfect for easing in.

Level 2 — Intermediate Techniques
Builds on what you know. A few more tools, a little more depth.

Level 3 — Advanced Concepts
Richer edits, complex composites, and deeper creative problem-solving.

The Part Most Members Love: You Can Start Anywhere...

This is what surprises members the most.
You do not need to start at Level 1.

If a Level 3 tutorial sparks something in you, go for it.
You might pause more. You might take a little longer.
But there is nothing wrong with that.

Learning Photoshop is not a race.
It’s a rhythm — and you get to decide the pace that feels right.

Start where you feel curious.
That’s always the best place to begin.

A Look Inside a Typical Lesson

Every lesson is designed to feel doable, no matter where you’re starting from.

Here’s how I structure them:

1. Start slow — I always give context so you know what we’re building toward.
2. Show every click — No skipping steps. No magic jumps.
3. Keep tools simple — I avoid overwhelming you with menus you don’t need.
4. Pause-friendly pacing — You can stop, rewind, breathe, retry.
5. Real artist-to-artist adviceHow to think, not just what to click.

The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is exploration.

My Teaching Style in 3 Words: Calm, Clear, Doable

Everything I teach is grounded in these three ideas:

Calm — no rushing, no pressure, no perfection required
Clear — each step explained, each tool demystified
Doable — even the advanced edits are broken into simple pieces

Photoshop can absolutely be your creative escape, not a stress point.
