The COOL Boy - Clean And Colorful Gradient Tutorial

photoshop basics Mar 25, 2020

Hey Everyone,

For this tutorial, I wanted to make this cool little boy stand out even more by brightening this image. I did this by just making some basic adjustments and mainly using gradients for color toning.

The curves layer is a neat tool to make quick adjustments to any of your images. In this image, I used it to fix the bottom of the model’s pants, to make them an even tone. Also, I used it to change the color of his lips. You can find out how I modified this image exactly by signing up for my premium membership and getting access to the full video.

Cleaning up the image not only means making adjustments to the model, but making sure that any background distraction is removed. As I said previously, I really wanted to make this beautiful little boy the center of attention by getting rid of unnecessary items. You can use the spot healing tool to make these changes. Whether you are a beginner or pro, this is an excellent tool to alter your images to the way you've always...

How To: Submerge a Room in Water

photoshop basics Mar 04, 2020

Hey everyone,

I recently did a tutorial on how I flood a room or submerge it in water using photoshop. You can view the full tutorial by signing up for the premium membership.

This can be a really cool effect if you want to add people floating around, objects or if you’re just looking to add water to fishbowl or a vase. The same techniques would be applied to any of these.

I got my image from Adobe Stock, I thought it would be a cool image to submerge in water. Even though this image was amazing, there are a few things in the image that makes me not want to use it for a real composite only because there does appear to be a door with light coming in on the side and two open doors in the background. If we’re being realistic, I wouldn't choose a room that had open doorways or windows.

In my tutorial, I showed three different ways to submerge a room in the water. Sign up for my premium membership to watch the full tutorial.

For the first technique, I flooded a portion of the...

Healing Chapped Lips for Portraitsđź’‹

photoshop basics Feb 19, 2020

Have you ever had a client come in for their session with chapped lips?

Even putting on chapstick does not fix the defined lines that will be prominent in the photograph. When you’re putting a lot of work into your portraits, you don’t want something like chapped lips to throw everything off.

In this tutorial, I explained the technique I use to heal chapped lips using Photoshop. It is not just smoothing out the lips. There are different tools in Photoshop that you can use to heal chapped lips and make it look like they were never chapped. One of the tools I used was the healing tool.

If you would like to see the full tutorial and techniques used, you can sign up for the premium membership.

The method I use in the tutorial focuses on the highlights and shadows on the lips. When you’re editing a ton of portraits, you want to use whatever is the quickest method. Although the method I mentioned isn't the quickest, in my opinion, it’s...

All American Gal - The Pattern Stamp Tool

photoshop basics Feb 12, 2020

Hello everyone, in this tutorial, we're going to play around with the pattern stamp tool!

While it's a tool that doesn't receive the love and recognition of some of our more popular Photoshop utilities, it is, in fact, incredibly useful when it comes to creating embellishments and textures for our clothing and subjects.

I wanted to make something that was grungy and vintage. I started my edit off with this image below and went from there.

We grabbed some clothes from my closet and had a photo shoot on my deck before I finally picked this one to edit. Once I got into Photoshop, I started changing up a few things, added fur to our vintage coat, and added some more details to pull it all together in this tutorial.

The main focus of this tutorial is the pattern stamp tool. I'm going to add some texture to the gloves. To do this, I found a sample I liked that was feminine but still gave me a feel that fits our mood.

In Photoshop, we're going to save our pattern before using the clone...

Not Just A Pretty Purple Dress - Composition Overload

photoshop basics Jan 29, 2020

Hey guys, for this tutorial we’re going to be making some major changes to the composition of this image from my  Creative Composting Workshop.

I like to start off my edits by bringing up the shadows before warming up the whole image using the temperature bar. I’m then going to go into the HSL grayscale tab and alter the skin tone.

After I have my tones where I want them, I’m going to adjust my image until it’s at an angle I like, before going and using the fill tool to make a natural looking extension of my image. You can find out exactly how I made this edit by signing up for my premium membership and getting access to the full video.

I want my dress to look more balanced, so I duplicate the left half of the dress and take my time to adjust it to my preference. It’s something you’ll have to play around with to make sure it looks natural. Masking the layer and using the brush tool at a lower opacity makes it a much smoother...

"Oh, Christmas Tree" a nostalgic Christmas composite

photoshop basics Dec 13, 2019

Hey, guys! Happy holidays to all. Today’s tutorial is more of an advanced one. There’s going to be tons of stock image adjustments as well, so then we’re going to use stock image websites like Pixel squid and Deposit photo. Now, I did complete the same composite last year so I will be flipping back and forth using it as a guide. You can always check out my previous tutorial along with many more with a premium subscription!

We’re starting with a base image with an empty room. I already prepared in advance so I have images masked & cut out. We start by just adding our already cut layer, I prepped a little girl with her cat and little brother.

To set the warm holiday setting, we just add our cut out of a flame and change its perspective to get things toasty! We continue with a rug, and a couch, table and a tiny gingerbread man. Most of my images are from pixel squid, which I love, it saves me so much time. It’s so much easier than trying to find the...

A Very Vintage Little Girl

photoshop basics Nov 27, 2019

Hey guys, today we’re giving this little girl a vintage painterly feel. To start off, we resize the image ratio so that fits for anything we might be printing.

The first thing we’re going to work on is our skin! We use the lasso tool and a blur filter to smooth it out, this gives our little girl a smoother and more dramatic look.

In order to add textures, we need to add some vignette.  The contrast really gives us that dramatic feel we’re looking for. I like to turn the layer I’m editing on and off to see the difference it makes, this is just so I don’t get too crazy with my edits!

From there, we’re going to load up some stock from my hard drive, at this point I’m just looking for a nice texture. You guys can literally find textures anywhere, so don’t be afraid to explore and get creative!

From there, I’m going to flip my texture clockwise and have the whole texture fit in nicely and repeat with a second texture....
